When is it OK to close Water Street?

The City of Decorah now has a system in place to handle requests to close Water Street or any other street in town.

Such requests are referred to the city's Street Committee, which will then discuss issues relating to the proposed street closures.

The system will get used at least twice in the near future.  The Water Street Music Series will meet with the Street Committee at 6:30 p.m. March 18th to discuss its request to close Water Street between River and Court on the evening of Saturday, May 11th.

City officials also say a tower company will soon ask for permission to close a portion of Water Street for two or three days as it works on repairs to a tower next to the Alliant Energy offices.
