Weather Service slightly lowers its prediction of snowfall amounts

Winter is not over yet!

The National Weather Service is predicting two rounds of snowstorms will pass through Winneshiek County Monday and Tuesday, dumping 5-10 inches of snow on the area.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued through Tuesday.  Snow could be heavy at times, with blowing and drifting making travel difficult to impossible across parts of the region Tuesday. 

Light snow is predicted during the day on Monday.  Light snow will continue through Monday afternoon, with an inch or two of accumulation. 

The strongest winter weather is predicted for Monday night and all day Tuesday.  Additional accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are predicted, as well as blowing and drifting snow that will hamper travel on Tuesday.  Storm totals through Tuesday are predicted to be around 10 inches in Southeastern Minnesota and Northeast Iowa. 

Once again, there will be two rounds of accumulating snow--one up until noon Monday and the second Monday.evening through all day Tuesday. when the heaviest snowfall is expected.
