The City of Decorah is seeking candidates to fill appointed positions on the newly-created Low and Moderate Income Housing Commission.
The new commission will replace the board formed in 2005 to administer the use of tax increment financing funds designated for low and moderate income housing. The new Commission will still be made up of representatives from Northeast Iowa Community Action, Habitat for Humanity and the City Council, but there will now also be two at
large members appointed by the Mayor to the five member board.
The appointments will be for three year terms, except for this first appointment cycle, which will include two appointments for one year, two appointments for two years, and one appointment for three years.
If any resident of the City of Decorah is interested in serving on this Commission, please download an application from the City's website, www.decorahia.org, or contact City Hall.
"Serving on a community board is a rewarding way to engage in the community and meet
new people." Mayor Arendt said at a recent council meeting. He continued by saying;
"Many young people may find service on a board a great opportunity to meet others with
similar interests and to learn more about the community in which they live."
The City of Decorah shall make every effort to comply with Iowa Code Section 69.16A in regards
to gender equity on its boards and commissions.
