Winneshiek Farmers Market and City of Decorah reach agreement on 2013 contract

There will be a few changes to the 2013 Winneshiek Farmers Market, changes that might be subtle, but organizers are hoping will make for an even better market this year.

Farmers Market officials have been meeting with City of Decorah officials about the 2013 agreement to lease space in the lower Co-op parking lot.  City officials have agreed to plant several trees in places where older and diseased trees were removed last year.  They have also allowed picnic tables to be placed near the parking lot.

But the biggest change the Farmers Market sought--and was granted--was an increased ability to reserve space before the Wednesday afternoon farmers market sessions.  City officials have allowed the Farmers Market to reserve space in the parking lot ahead of the 3:00 p.m. openings and to paint numbers on the parking lot surface to show where the farmers market booths will be laid out.
