One of two finalists for Luther College president will visit campus starting Tuesday

Luther College presidential finalist Dr. Mark Hagerott will visit the Luther campus starting Tuesday.  Hagerott will visit with various groups on campus and will hold two forums on Wednesday for campus staff, students and professors.

Hagerott presently serves as Military Professor and Senior Military Officer of History at the United States Naval Academy.  A Rhodes Scholar, he has lectured widely in both the United States and Europe on the educational, organizational, and ethical implications of changing technology.

Hagerott served a deployment as a naval officer in Afghanistan.  He was a senior staff adviser in the Afghan training and education command, the organization responsible for building the Afghan army, air force, police and military medical systems.  At the U.S. Naval Academy he shared in developing an academic major in Cyber Security, a first-of-its kind program.

Hagerott was born in Mandan, North Dakota.  He earned a B.S. in 1983 from the United States Naval Academy, an M.A. in 1985 from Oxford University in political science and economics and a Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Maryland in history.
