Decorah native's photo will be used on the cover of the Iowa Tourism Guide

The cover of the 2013 Iowa Travel Guide will be a photo taken by a Decorah native.

Governor Terry Branstad on Monday announced that a photo taken by Jessica Rilling of a kayaker on the Turkey River will be used on the cover of the Iowa Travel Guide.  Facebook fans of the Iowa Tourism Office voted for Riulling's photo as their favorite of three cover photos.  Rilling is the daughter of D.J. and Lora Friest of Decorah.

More than 600 photos were submitted to the Iowa Tourism Office as part of the contest.

The Iowa Tourism Office distributes more than 100,000 copies of the Iowa Travel Guide annually to travelers from every state and around the world. The new guide will be available in the spring of 2013. A digital version will also be available at traveliowa.com
