Decorah Police have been busy recently responding to traffic accidents.

On Friday morning around 10:15, the Winneshiek County Ambulance turned left into the hospital drive.  That caused southbound traffic to stop for the ambulance.  However, 56-year-old Richard Winter of Decorah could not stop in time and struck the rear of a car driven by 37-year-old Mark Downing, causing $3,000 in damages.  Neither driver was injured and Winter was not ticketed.

On Saturday evening around 9:30, 22-year-old Michael Bernd of Amery, Wisconsin lost control of his car on Dike Road, slid off the roadway and struck a tree.  Bernd's car suffered $5,000 in damages.  Bernd was ticketed for failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

And on Sunday, 66-year-old Bonnie Murray of Decorah struck a deer while driving on Highway 52 around 11:00 a.m., causing $2,000 in damages.
