January in Decorah was warm and dry

January in Decorah continued the trend of above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation.

Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says temperatures averaged 20.9 degrees during January--4.8 degrees warmer than average.  That made January of 2013 the 25th warmest January in the 119 Januarys for which records have been kept.

Decorah received 0.82 inches of precipitation in January--0.21 inches less than normal.  Over the past 12 months, Decorah has a precipitation deficit of 6.02 inches.
