Decorah High School senior Josey Jewell has verbally committed to play football at the University of Iowa.

Jewell has been a four-sport standout for Decorah High School in not only football, but basketball, track and baseball.  This past year, Jewell helped lead the Decorah Vikings to the Class 3A state championship in football after a runner-up finish in 2011.  Along the way, all-state honors were earned both seasons while amassing 3,240 yards rushing with 42 touchdowns as a fullback and 190 solo and 120 assisted tackles as a linebacker.

"I am very thankful and excited to have the opportunity to become a Hawkeye.  My teammates, teachers and coaches have done a great deal to help me reach this point.  I am hopeful that the lessons learned thus far from them will help me contribute as much as I can to the Iowa Football program."

Jewell plans to sign is national letter of intent on Wednesday.
