A wiond chill advisroy remains in effect for Winneshiek County until noon Friday.
The National Weather Service says wind chills could drop to as low as 35 degrees Friday morning.
Temperatures sank to a low of 9 degrees below zero Friday morning in Decorah, according to the Weather Service. However, winds were slightly lower than predicted, somewhat mitigating the wind chills.
Nevertheless, the Weather Service is warning that wind chill values could lead to frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.
