Library to begin world affairs reading and discussion group

Beginning in March, Decorah Public Library will offer an 8-week reading and discussion group focused on current world affairs. The group will meet on the 2nd floor of the library every Monday from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., March 4th through April 22nd.

The group text will be the Great Decisions briefing book- published annually by the Foreign Policy Association- which highlights eight of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans today. The book provides background information, current data, and policy options for each issue. Topics for 2013 include the future of the Euro, Egypt, NATO, Myanmar and Southeast Asia, Intervention, Iran, China in Africa, and threat assessment. Anyone interested in participating should stop by the library by Friday, February 8th, to pre-register and pay $20 for his/her copy of the Great Decisions briefing book.
