Snow departs, frigid temperatures arrive

The latest winter snowstorm is leaving the Decorah area after dropping 5 inches of snowfall.

In the wake of the snow, very cold wind chills are expected through Friday.  Strong winds will produce wind chills ranging from 10 below to 25 below zero after midnight Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and wind chills from 20 below to 30 below zero Thursday night into Friday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Winneshiek County until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.  A Wind Chill Advisory has been posted for Winneshiek County from midnight Wednesday to noon Thursday.  The National Weather Service says it expects to issue wind chill advisory later for Thursday night into Friday morning.
