Dennis Olejniczak earns Coach of the Year honors

Dennis Olejniczak has been named the 2012 Class 3A Northeast District Baseball Coach of the Year by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association. 

The 2012 season was special in many ways for Coach Olejniczak.  In his 49th season as the Head Coach for the Vikings, he led them to a runner-up finish in the 2012 Class 3A State Baseball Tournament.  

During his time at Decorah, Olejniczak helped lead the Vikings to 23 Northeast Iowa Conference Titles and 11 State Tournament appearances in which they have been the state runner-up 6 times and state champions 3 times.  Olejniczak ranks 2nd all-time among high school baseball coaches in wins with 1,292. 

This is the 10th time Olejniczak has been named district coach of the year by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association in addition to being named state coach of the year three times and national coach of the year in 2009 by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association.
