The trial of a 64-year-old Decorah woman accused of taking money from Aase Haugen Homes--originally scheduled for February 27th--has now been postponed until September.
Nancy Elsbernd faces two criminal charges in the case. Court documents say Elsbernd told police she believes she had been taking money from the nursing home for the past five or six years. The exact amount of the money taken is not known, although it is believed to be over $55,000. Auditors have begun checking the financial books of the nursing home in order to come up with an exact amount.
Elsbernd's trial on charges of first degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct is now scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on September 5th.
