Next year's proposed budget for Northeast Iowa Community College calls for a six percent drop in the NICC mill rate for area property tax payers.

A public hearing on the budget will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 18th, in the boardroom at the NICC Peosta campus.

Under the proposed budget, the contribution from property tax payers in the NICC district will be reduced from $0.99 per thousand dollars of assessed evaluation for fiscal year 2013 to $0.93 for fiscal year 2014.

A 3.35 percent increase in the operational budget is being proposed.  The general fund budget for fiscal year 2014 is estimated at $52,665,102.

57 percent of the 2014 fiscal year budget would be paid by student fees and tuition, while state fund would pay for 31 percent of the costs, local property tax collections would pay for 7 percent, federal funds would pay for 1 percent and miscellaneous revenues would pay for 4 percent of the costs.
