On September 15th of last year Decorah Police received numerous phone calls from residents of West Decorah notifying police of a man who was jumping on the hood of a moving vehicle and had earlier attempted to break into at least two homes.

20-year-old Daniel Mendoza was arrested that night on second degree attempted burglary charges.

Mendoza has since dropped out of Luther College, moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and gotten a job.  Now there's been a plea agreement in the case that will suspend the burglary charge against Mendoza.  The agreement, which was finalized this week, will have Mendoza wearing an ankle bracelet for ten days and will require him to pay back the victim for damage caused on September 15th.  Mendoza has entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of trespassing, which is a simple misdemeanor.
