Ask Mr. Answer Person: "What is 'The Pledge of Allegiance to the Planet'?"

Ray e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "In your story about the Pledge of Allegiance being said at the beginning of City Council meetings, you said one city council member wanted to say "The Pledge of Allegiance to the Planet."  I've never heard of it before.  What can you tell me about it?"

Mr. Answer Person says: "A picture with the words of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Planet is posted above.  Here is the wording:

"I pledge allegiance to the earth and all the life which it supports. One planet, in our care, irreplacable, with sustenance and respect for all."
