County board proclaims January as Mentoring Month

The Winneshiek County Board on Monday approved a resolution recognizing January as Mentoring Month.

In Winneshiek County Helping Services for Northeast Iowa offers mentoring programs through the Building Bridges Through Mentoring program.  Kathy Schwartzhoff from Helping Services says the program will celebrate its 16th anniversary next month.  Schwartzhoff says mentoring programs help build kid's self-esteem and keep them out of trouble.
