The Decorah Fire Department was called to a house at 2217 Oil Well Road on Sunday afternoon., The homeowners had reported a fire in the wall of the house.
Upon the fire department's arrival, light smoke was found in the main level of the house. Fire was located on one wall in the living room near the wood stove chimney. The fire was contained and quickly extinguished.
There were working smoke detectors in the house. The smoke detectors' alarms were ringing when the firefighters arrived. All occupants were able to leave the house and were not injured. No damage estimate is available yet for the house.
The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance, Winneshiek County Sheriff Office, Frankville Fire Department and Spahn and Rose Lumber Company. I
