Firefighters called to house fire on West Main Street

A home at 610 West Main Street in Decorah suffered significant damage on Thursday. 

Decorah firefighters had to battle not only the smoke and flames, but strong gusty winds that reached 40 miles an hour.

Traffic in the area was blocked off as the firefighters attempted to knock down the fire.  There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
