Around 5 inches of snow has fallen in Decorah so far as of Thursday morning. The National Weather Service still has blizzard warnings in effect and says heavy snowfall will continue--especially through noon.
Snowfall totals were higher to the east and south of Decorah. Strawberry Point has received the heaviest snowfall in the area, with 12.2 inches of accumulation.
Winds are increasing this morning, producing sustained speeds of 20 to 35 miles an hour and gusts up to 45 miles an hour.
Blowing and drifting snow will produce road closures and localaized whitehout conditions. Visibilities will drop below one quarter miles.
