NICC officials take steps to improve campus security

NICC continues to work on improving its safety procedures.

NICC Safety Committee chairperson Dan Neenan says the college has been retrofitting office and classroom doors in all college buildings so that they lock from the inside. "This action is essential to protect students and employees should we have an intruder on campus," says Neenan.

A new text message system will be implemented in January that will allow college administrators to alert anyone who has opted to receive messages of emergency situations. "With the tragedies that have occurred in our country recently, we continually review our policies and procedures with an emphasis on safety on our campuses and in our centers," says Neenan.
