Luren Singers concert results in donation to Clayton County Food Bank

The Clayton County Food Shelf.is a little bit richer, thanks to the Luren Singing Society of Decorah.

At a benefit Christmas concert at the Elkader Opera House over the weekend, Luren Singers president David Carlson presented a check for $1,536.75 to the Food Shelf.  Freedom Bank had underwritten the costs of the concert so that all contributions could go directly to the food shelf.

The Clayton County Food Shelf is located in St. Olaf.  It works with five social service and welfare organizations in Clayton County and usually helps around 90 families each month.  For Christmas the Food Shelf is giving gifts to 600 children from 250famlies.  Each child will get a quilt, a new pair of pajamas, a toy and anew washcloth and towel.
