ArtHaus, Decorah's home for the visual, performing, and literary arts, has released its Winter/Spring calendar which lists classes and events for kids and adults from January through May.  ArtHaus is now accepting registration for all classes and workshops.

The popular Winter Art Camp for ages 6-8 (K-2nd grade) and 9-12 (3rd-6th grade) is back this year, offered December 26-28 and January 2-4, from 9am-3pm.  Students will split the day between the ArtHaus Studio and the Clay Studio, ending with a showcase of student artwork at the ArtHaus Studio.  New and returning students are welcome and discounts are offered for students registered by December 5 or enrolled in both camps.
After school and Saturday morning Ballet and Tap classes for children age 3 and up will start in January with Movin' and Groovin' (up to age 4), Creative Movement (age 4-5) and Choreography (age 9-12) later in the spring.  Offered in cooperation with Decorah Community Schools, "Skape Sammen" provides students (age 9-12) an opportunity to explore music through xylophone compositions and creative dance.

Other popular programs such as ArtStudio for Tiny Masters (age 2-3), Mini-Masters (age 4-5), and Little Masters (age 6-8) will begin in January, with many options throughout the winter and spring for young artists up to age 16 including Sculpture, Drawing Comics, and Photography.  Young actors will have a chance to step onstage in My Story/Our Story Theatre (age 6-8) and Original Theatre Workshop (age 13-18).

Adults will find a wide variety of opportunities such as the return of the popular Improv class with Kristen Underwood, as well as Spanish Book Groups, American Sign Language, European Folk Dance, Recorder Ensemble, Basket Making, Sewing, Drawing and Painting, Silkscreening, Photography, and a new daytime Painting and Printmaking class on Tuesday mornings.

Many classes begin in January and early registration is recommended. Registration one week prior to the start of class  is strongly encouraged to ensure the class will run.  To view the complete schedule and to register online, visit www.arthausdecorah.org, or register by phone by calling 563-382-5440.

ArtHaus calendars are also available at one of several downtown locations including Decorah Public Library, Oneota Community Co-op, the Chamber of Commerce, Java John's, the Magpie, and in the milk box in front of ArtHaus, located at 508 W. Water Street.

Scholarships, made possible by the many Friends of ArtHaus, are available for Winter Art Camp or any youth class at ArtHaus upon request.  Please inquire upon registration.
