You know you have one of them. They're probably in the back of your closet, or on the very top shelf. They're ugly Christmas sweaters, and for some people they're as much a part of Christmas as eggnog and mistletoe.
"I'm a big fan of the song," said Luther student Abby Carpenter, by way of explaining why she took a glue gun and created a Christmas sweater based on "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Not everyone showed Abby's creativity. "It's a local $3 bargain from Goodwill," said Kelsey Moler by way of explaining her apparel.
It was the job of Kevin Kraus, Janet Monroe and Laura Stile to figure out which of the over 20 sweaters qualified as the ugliest. After some deliberation, they awarded prizes to Abby Carpenter, Annika Ring and Jake Geis. Geis, who had brought his newborn baby to the contest, said the baby seemed ready to cry. It was not known if the crying was related to Geis' "Ugliest Christmas Sweater."
