Luther College student Chris Norton, who founded the "SCI CAN Foundation" to raise money to buy therapeutic equipment for individuals with spinal cord injuries, says his foundation is close to raising the $27,000 needed.
Norton decided to raise money to buy the equipment because most local facilities cannot afford it. He wants to buy an "RT300," a recumbent therapeutic bicycle that individuals use to regain strength and mobility. There is only one of these machines for public use in the entire state of Iowa. Another goal is to buy the bioness hand stimulator.
Norton says contributions that have come in to his foundation are almost enough to buy the RT300. Another fundraiser will be held inthe Des Moines area on Sunday, January 27th.
