Mayo Clinic Health System is celebrating its 20th anniversary

"Mayo Clinic" has been in operation since 1863, but "Mayo Clinic Health System" owes its start to Decorah.  In 1992 Mayo Clinic took over the operation of the Decorah Clinic and created "Mayo Clinic Health System."
 
From the initial six physicians in Decorah, Mayo Clinic Health System has expanded to 71 locations in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota—and one location in Georgia.  Mayo Clinic Health System now employs over 900 medical providers and serves more than half a million patients a year.  The 72 locations of "Mayo Clinic Health System" include Decorah, Waukon, Prairie Du Chien, Caledonia, La Crescent and La Crosse.
