Arrest on shoplifting charges proves costly for Elma man

An Elma man got more than he bargained for when he allegedly tried to shoplift $298.58 worth of merchandise from the Decorah Walmart on Saturday.

20-year-old Stephen Havlik got arrested on shoplifting charges, but that might have been the least of his concerns.  In the course of arresting Havlik on shoplifting charges, police allegedly also found a number of drugs.  Havlik now also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
