Vennehjem neighborhod is one step closer to having a park

The property is located on the northeast corner of the Nordic Drive/Highland Drive intersection

An important step has been taken in the effort to build a city park in the Vennehjem neighborhood.  The Decorah City Council on Monday night officially accepted a donation of land from developer Stan Finholt.

Neighborhood residents had been talking with the Decorah Parks Department about creating a park in the neighborhood, but city officials said the land transfer was the necessary first step. 

Decorah mayor Don Arendt says now that the land has been transferred, city officials will work with neighbors and with the Park-Rec Board to develop a plan for the property.
