John Beard to ask for vote recount in State Senate District 28

State Senate candidate John Beard of Decorah says he plans to request a recount of the votes cast in Senate District 28.

Beard, a Democrat, trails Republican Mike Breitbach by just 23 votes after updated canvass totals have been added from Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette and Winneshiek Counties.  A ballot canvass on Tuesday in Winneshiek County gave Beard ten more votes.

The 23 vote margin is out of nearly 30,000 votes cast.

Beard has until Friday to officially request the recount.  He tells decorahnews.com that he intends to file the official paperwork with the County Auditors in all four counties.
