Several NE Iowa state legislative races are still up in the air

Two State Senate races and one State Assembly race in Northeast Iowa are still undecided after Tuesday's voting.

In State Senate District 26, incumbent Democrat Mary Jo Wilhelm of Cresco leads incumbent Republican Merlin Bartz 15,511 to 15,391--a difference of just 120 votes out of nearly 31,000 votes cast.  District 26 is the only State Senate district in Iowa in which two incumbents are running against each other.

In State Senate District 28, Republican Michael Breitbach leads Democrat John Beard 14,791 to 14,754--a difference of 37 votes.

In State Assembly District 55, Democratic incumbent Roger Thomas leads Republican Michael Klimesh 7,754 to 7,574--a difference of 180 votes.

In all three cases, absentee ballots could still be counted--so long as they were postmarked by Monday.  There is also the possibility that a recount could be requested in any of the races.
