Winneshiek County now has a written ordinance covering how it will handle winter road maintenance from November through April. The Winneshiek Coun Board unanimously approved the ordinance on Monday after a third reading of the ordinance was held.
The ordinance gives the county some flexibility in deciding which roads will get plowed first. "The storms are going to dictate what we do," says County Engineer Lee Bjerke, noting "every storm is different."
The ordinance allows the county to prioritize its response to winter storms.
