Physician's assistant Andrea Wilson has joined the orthopedic staff at the Gundersen Lutheran--Decorah Clinic.
Wilson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Iowa State University. She then earned her Master's of Art degree in Teaching from the University of Iowa before receiving her Master's of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois.
Andrea has a special medical interest in Sport Medicine and spent the last 10 years at the University of Iowa assisting in the care of student athletes, including those on the women's soccer team.
"My husband grew up in Decorah, and over the years when we would come back to visit the area, we agreed that Decorah has a lot to offer and a wonderful place to raise a family," says Andrea, who grew up in Iowa City. "I was fortunate to discover that Gundersen Lutheran was looking for an orthopedic provider in the area, allowing me to continue working in the area of medicine I love."
Wilson joins orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tyler Beckley in caring for patients with lower and upper extremity injuries and concerns. That means patients in the Decorah area now have full-time access to orthopedic care at Gundersen Lutheran. "It is not always easy for someone with an orthopedic injury to travel any distance for care. By providing orthopedic care full time in Decorah, we hope to make it more convenient for patients to receive the care they need," explains Wilson.
