The Decorah Community School District has announced several changes because of the Decorah Viking football team's participation Thursday in the Class 3A semi-finals.

First of all, classes will start two hours late on Friday.  Superintendent Mike Haluska says Thursday night's football game at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls could start as late as 8:45 p.m.  and could very well not end until 11:15 p.m., meaning students and staff might not return home until after 1:00 a.m. and the team potentially around 2:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, North Winneshiek School has also announced it will start classes two hours late on Friday for the same reasons.

Because of the late start to classes on Friday, the 12th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast and Program for Veterans will be moved to Monday, November 12th.  The event had originally been scheduled for Friday.  Said Haluska, "With three Variety Show performances on Friday and Saturday after a late night semi-final football game on Thursday in Cedar Falls, the high school staff believed this was the besy way to honor the veterans and their families."
