For the third consecutive year, Northeast Iowa Community College has been named to the list of "Military Friendly Schools." The distinction honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as college students.
G.I. Jobs, an online resource for U.S. military personnel, compiles the annual listing. It looks at the college's efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, the availability of services for veterans and its academic accreditations. G.I. Jobs noted several categories in which NICC received 100 percent recommendation:
G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Methodology, criteria and weighting for the list were developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board consisting of educators from 12 different universities and trade schools, as well as several officials from the U.S. Veterans Administration department.
