Winneshiek County Farm Service Agency Executive Director Julie Vulk is announcing a change in Iowa's crop acreage reporting dates for the 2013 crop year for all fall seeded cover crops as well as forage crops.
Producers of perennial forage crops (grass, hay, alfalfa, and pasture) must submit a 2013 acreage report for those crops by December 15th. "In past years, producers had until the end of June to report their acreage for wheat and other small grains, and until the end of July to report their hay and pasture acreage," said Vulk. "The new reporting date is much sooner than the prior dates, so we encourage producers to make an appointment to stop by and make a report." The December 15th reporting deadline also applies to producers of all fall seeded wheat and other fall seeded small grains. Late-filed fees will not be assessed if reported by June 30, 2013. This is also the same date for these crops to be reported to your crop insurance agent when carrying federal crop insurance.
