City of Decorah officials won't make any changes to the Locust Road/College Drive intersection until at least next spring

The City of Decorah will be conducting a little experiment for the next six months.  A stop sign has been put into a weighted barrel and installed at Locust Road's intersection with College Drive.

Lindsay Erdman of Erdman Engineering says other such signs have gotten hit by motorists in the past.  He says city officials could decide to install a small raised island instead--but not until next spring.  Erdman says the experience on the new traffic island on Montgomery Street suggests that a barrel stop sign on Locust Road might be needed.
