Drunk driving charges filed in Luther parking lot accident

21-year-old Daniel Ray Mendoza has been charged with drunk driving following a seven-vehicle accident in the Luther College lower campus parking lot.

Decorah Police say Mendoza was driving fast on the road near Miller Hall when his car hit a curb, crossed a grassy area and collided with a parked car, which was pushed into two other parked cars.  Mendoza's vehicle kept going and struck three more parked cars.

Mendoza suffered a head injury and was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center.  The accident resulted in total losses to Mendoza's car and two parked cars and a total of $2,400 in damages to the four other parked cars.
