Decorah bald eaglet "D1" is back in the United States!

After spending five months in Canada, Decorah bald eagle "D1" has returned to the United States.

Volunteers from the Raptor Resource Center strapped a GPS to G1 last year in order to track the travels of the bald eagle.  Last summer the eagle traveled to northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, but this summer she took off for Hudson Bay.

But with the colder weather, D1 is moving south.  Earlier this week the GPS put her northeast of Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Asks Raptor Resource Project director Bob Anderson, "Will she come back to Decorah later this winter like she did in 2011 after spending several months in northern WI and MN?  Her travels are most fascinating."
