Here is the text of a news release issued Wednesday by the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department about Tuesday's shooting:
"The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department and the Iowa State Patrol assisted Calmar Police in the investigation of shots fired at a residence in Calmar. The suspect, Dan Wildman, was located in an out building south of Ossian. Wildman then fled from officers on an ATV and was later apprehended in a corn field near Castalia.
In custody at the Winneshiek County Jail is Dan Wildman, 23, from Cresco. Wildman is currently held on three arrest warrants from Howard County--Probation Violation hold without bond, Delivery of Controlled Substance $7,500 bond and Possession of Firearm as a Felon, $7,500 bond. The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending.
