Aase Haugen Homes is proposing to build 12 new apartment units for memory care assisted living and to renovate an existing 3,800 square foot space.
The proposed project would centralize all of the nursing home's memory care assisted living units in one area. When residents of the current memory care would be moved into the new facilities, the current memory care units would be converted into eight rehabilitative skilled nursing suites.
Aase Haugen Homes spokesperson Don Wurtzel says the project would meet "two growing needs." The project carries an estimated price tag of $1,661,500.
On Monday night the Decorah City Council agreed to sponsor a Community Development Block Grant application on behalf of Aase Haugen Homes.
