Update on D1 travels

Posted: Thu, Oct 11, 2012 7:05 PM

Decorah bald eagle D1, which has a GPS tracking unit strapped to it, continues its journey to the south.

Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson says the latest date show D1 is near Gravel River Provincial Park, an undeveloped park on the shores of Lake Superior.  That means D1 has traveled around 500 miles south since being on Hudson Bay.

Meanwhile, this year's eaglet, D14, remains in Northeast Iowa.  Anderson says the latest tracking data shows D14 is near Nashua, Iowa.
