Luther College to bring herbicide spraying on Friday

Three times within the past five years lawn spraying companies hired by Luther College have been cited by the Iowa Department of Agriculture for improperly applying herbicides.  The latest reprimand was issued to the No Lawn Left Behind company, which the state said applied herbicide at a time when winds were too strong.

But despite previous run-ins with the State Ag Department, another herbicide company has been hired to spray lawns at Luther starting this Friday.

The upper campus lawns will be fertilized and spot treated for broadleaf weeds, especially along sidewalks and curbs. beginning Friday and continuing throughout the weekend--weather permitting.

College officials say the spraying is "in keeping with Luther's turf management policy."
