On Monday night the Decorah Community School Board handles several routine business items:

• They appointed David Vasquez, Katherine Whitsitt, and Mark Lovelace to the Shareholders group.
• They also appointed 17 local residents/business representatives to the Career Technical Advisory Committee.
• The board also approved the Certified Annual Report. That report notes that district finances have improved considerably over the last year. The unreserved, undesignated fund balance rose by over $360,000. The result was an increased "solvency ratio," from 10.03 to 14.51 percent.

In other business the Board delayed action on the question of neighborhood noise related to Carrie Lee air conditioning. Suggestions about boards on the fencing were determined to possibly destabilize the fence during windy winter months. Superintendent Haluska has talked with the concerned neighbors, informing them that studies by EMC would have to wait until spring when the air conditioning units are running regularly.
