Christmas cards for the troops campaign was a success

Posted: Mon, Oct 8, 2012 4:26 PM

RSVP Director Kathy Barloon reports Northeast Iowa residents contributed 715 Christmas cards to the campaign to collect Christmas cards for Iowa Soldiers.  That's more than double last year's amount.

The cards came from many sources which included RSVP volunteers, school children, religious education classes, 4-H members, nursing home residents and the general public.  Many homemade cards were included in the package.

The cards were sent off to Julie Ehlers in Waterloo, who is in charge of the Iowa Bravest campaign.  The cards will be sent to Northeast Iowa soldiers who are far from home during the holiday season.
