Students at St. Benedict's School in Decorah this week have collected 69,773 cans for their Can Mountain collection to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Last year, St. Benedict School collected 44, 288 cans. This year's total sets an all-time record for the event.  The cans filled up a trailer five times.

All money earned from this week long event will be donated to Habitat for Humanity in order to build more houses.  Final fundraising figures have not been calculated yet, but the donation to Habitat for Humanity should be just under $3,500.  This marks the 17th year the school has collected for Habitat.
