Federal Aviation Administration investigators were in Winneshiek County Tuesday to investigate the crash of a helicopter on Sunday.
Winneshiek County Sheriff Lee Bohr says the helicopter was working on a power line maintenance project. The pilot noticed the helicopter engine sputtering, so he began putting down the helicopter. He was almost successful, but the helicopter crashed on the last ten feet down to the ground. The pilot and a passenger were not injured. The helicopter was removed from the farm field Tuesday after the FAA investigators looked it over.
Sheriff Bohr says his department will release further details of the crash on Wednesday.
