The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded a $12.9 million grant to Iowa's 15 community colleges--including NICC--to expand workforce training in the advanced manufacturing sector.

The money will be used to develop and award certificates (non-credit and credit), diplomas, and associate's degrees in the welding, machining, industrial maintenance, industrial automation, manufacturing technology, robotics, and transportation and logistics programs.

For NICC, the federal funding will allow the school to hire additional faculty members for its Welding, Industrial Maintenance and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) programs.
