A Calmar woman was killed around 4:00 p.m. Friday when the motorcycle on which she was a passenger went out of control on Highway 52 north of Calmar.

The Iowa State Patrol has identified the woman as 44-year-old Trish Ann Taylor of Calmar.  She was riding on a motorcycle driven by 45-year-old Jay Jermier of Decorah.  State troopers said Jermier was northbound in a construction zone where the road surface was uneven. He crossed into the southbound lane and lost control due to the uneven surfacing.

Both were transported to Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, where Taylor was pronounced dead.

(Note: The Iowa State Patrol originally identified Trish Taylor as being from Hawkeye, Iowa, but later updated that information to indicate she had been living in Calmar)
