In the wake of the arrests of two people staying at the Bluffs Inn on charges of operating a meth lab in their room, the motel management has been left with a lot of headaches.
Manager Kathryn Plumb tells decorahnews.com she had "no idea it was going on." She says they never received any complaints about the room residents.
Now that the meth lab has been discovered and two people arrested, signs have been posted on all nearby rooms, stating that the rooms are closed to the public. Plumb wants to emphasize that the rooms involved are in an annex to the motel and NOT in the main building. She says the rooms in the main building were NOT affected and are completely safe.
The Bluffs Inn has begun looking into what must be done to clean up the affected annex building. It could be a complex project. The work has to be done by a company with special training in handling hazardous materials. That could mean hiring a company to come from Des Moines or another large Midwestern city.
In the meantime, the Bluffs Inn is open for business and hoping what Plumb calls "an unfortunate situation" doesn't keep customers away.
